A major update to Apple Music, currently in beta, adds new widgets to the Android home screen from iOS 17, along with other features from the latest version of iPhone and iPad.
The Now Playing widget, formerly known as Apple Music Player, remains largely unchanged. However, Recently Played changes from a grid of covers to a list of names and artists.
Two new widgets are now available for iOS 17:
- Recommendations: Hear top Apple Music picks, new releases, and other recommendations.
- Top Charts: Hear top charts based on your location or city.
These two Home screen objects could use Apple Music's red accent or something that is essentially Dynamic Color. In the widget customizer, Apple calls it "Your device wallpaper is used to set the color theme for Apple Music widgets." Support for this will take some time and in a way matches the time spent on the app. to get Android 13 media player support.
Dynamic Color applies to everything and works, it doesn't work through a widget. Settings also appear for Now Playing and Recently Played, but these widgets currently use blurry album art as the background.
All four widgets are active today but they remain active. Note Please note that this is a beta version and there are some bugs.
